Climate Change Adaptation

The Climate Change Adaptation sub-network is dedicated to developing strategies and measures to prepare cities for the impacts of climate change.

It assesses the vulnerabilities of urban areas to climate-related risks, such as extreme weather events, sea level rise, and heat waves.

Based on these assessments, the sub-network proposes adaptation plans, which may include the construction of flood-resilient infrastructure, the improvement of urban green spaces, and the creation of early warning systems.

In addition, this sub-network focuses on understanding the relationship between urban environments, climate change, and public health. It studies the impacts of environmental factors on human health and well-being, such as air pollution, extreme heat, and waterborne or vector-borne diseases. Based on its findings, the sub-network works to design healthier and more sustainable urban environments that promote a better quality of life for their residents.
